The Guideline CDC Oil is thinner and is a better choice if you prepare the flies at the tying desk, or for small flies where the gel has a tendency to cover the fibres. The Gel is a bit thicker and is our first hand choice for on-the-water treatment of all types of dry flies and emergers.
